Statement on Coronovirus

In accordance with Government guidance and advice from Leicestershire Tennis, we have closed the courts and no tennis play can currently take place. We will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.

We will keep you updated as the situation unfolds. In the meantime please stay safe and healthy and heed both Government and NHS advice. See here for the latest Government advice:

“Hello and welcome to Westfields Tennis Club. Whether you’re already a member with us, representing another club, or a new player looking to see if Westfields is the right place for you or your children, we hope that this website will provide you with all the information you need and offer a comprehensive overview of our club. If you have any comments or questions which aren’t answered on the site then please feel free to get in touch with either myself or another member of our committee – we’d be delighted to hear from you.”

About the Club

Westfields Tennis Club is located near Western Park, around a mile from Leicester city centre.  It is the most central tennis club in Leicestershire and the only one on the west side of Leicester. The Club is tucked away in the quiet Eastfield Road cul-de-sac just off the A47 (Hinckley Road) – the main road into Leicester from the west of the city.

The Club has four courts, all re-laid in 2019 with artificial grass. It has a clubhouse with a small kitchen, toilets, changing rooms and showers, and outside there is a car park providing free off-road parking. We also have full wheelchair access.

We have regular club play sessions to which all members are invited, numerous teams in local leagues plus coaching opportunities for both juniors and adults of all standards. Members can also book a court and arrange their own play whenever they want.

Westfields Tennis Club

Whilst in isolation and doing what everyone else is doing clearing out, I came across this photo of my mum playing tennis. Memories of her teaching me and my siblings on Sunday afternoons on the courts at Evington Park were happy ones and there began my passion for tennis, still to this day reminding myself of her statements of what I did wrong in the middle of play!
We are all part of history at the moment and I thought it would be lovely if members could contribute to Westfields long and varied History by sharing with us how they got started in tennis and why, so it can be recorded and kept for future generations who hopefully carry on Westfields after we’re gone.
If you don’t want to publicly post, please email me for the record

Tennis Lesson Closure – Covid-19

After lots of thought we have taken the decision to suspend all tennis squads from midnight on Tuesday 17th March.
This is not an easy decision as it will have a massive effect on our coaching team, however everybody’s health and well being has to come first.

Please bear with us while we figure out our next steps as we wait for guidance from the relevant governing bodies.
We’ll be in touch soon, but in the mean time stay safe.

A lot of people have been asking about payments during the closure.

Rest assured no payment will be claimed for missed sessions.
We will be able to offer alternative sessions, credit against camps/tournaments or refunds if preferred.

We’re currently looking into the best way to do this.

We will post an update as soon as we have found a practical solution

Best wishes,
All the team at GSM Leisure.
